Team announced for opening Energia AIL tie away to Malone RFC
The team selection for our opening tie in Div 2A of the Energia AIL has been announced and as expected Danny Kenny has introduced a host of new talent alongside the experienced campaigners who secured promotion last season.
The conclusion of last season saw a number of key retirements notably the evergreen Rob Connolly, back row Dan Mannion and our player Coach Danny Kenny who dedicating himself full time to his coaching role.
Our new look side features seven debutants for the Greystones senior side in the AIL and includes some significant young talents that have forged their skills through the youth section and returned from other clubs along side the addition of experience, notably inclusion of Italian Simone Ragusi in the centre who has featured for Benneton Treviso and the Italian seven-a-side team.
In the Front row young Jamie Mulhern starts alongside the familiar pairing of Rob Byrne and Conor Pearse and in the second row, Captain Eoin Marmion is joined by another newcomer in Johan van der Flier who brings experience from Wicklow. In the backrow Adam Benson is joined by Fionan Denver while Patrick Kiernan is welcomed back from his Erasmus year spent in Holland at number 8.
Dave Baker and Killian Marmion make up an experienced half back combination while Simone and Josh Pyper lead a new look centre partnership with Ferdia Kenny joined by two exciting young backs in Craig Kenny and Stephen Corry in the back three.
The bench includes Flynn Pyper and Shane Marmion making it a family affair for the Marmions with three brothers and the Pypers with two on the matchday selection.
