Ken Ging RIP
To many Ken Ging was a brilliant and highly entertaining raconteur whose timing and delivery was comedy gold. To a first generation of professional rugby players Ken was Leinster team manager, mentor and confidant and to members of Greystones Ken was former Captain, Coach, Chairman and President who played a pivotal role in guiding the club to the inaugural All Ireland League.
Ken first joined Greystones in 1955 before work commitments took him to Cork ten years later where he featured for Sundays Well and gained representative honours for Munster. He was famously part of the Munster team that defeated Australia 11-6 at Musgrave Park in 1967, something he was not shy of reminding Leinster Players several decades later.
Ken returned to Greystones in 1972 and served as Captain, Coach, Chairman and President. In latter years he entertained many with his after dinner speeches, a masterful story teller.
Quite simply he was one of the greats and will be sorely missed.
