Paul McNaughton 1952 - 2022
Everyone involved with Greystones RFC is deeply shocked at the sudden and untimely passing of one of our clubs greatest servants and most highly decorated sportsmen, Paul McNaughton.
In the last days the many hundreds of comments posted via various social media channels, in newsprint across national and local press or directly to the club all point to an outstanding individual, generous with his time and a mentor to many on and off the field where he had a successful business career while still finding time for leadership roles with Greystones, Leinster and Irish and European Rugby.
Paul was one of the very few multi- talented sports people who transcended the sporting codes, he played GAA with Eire Og Greystones and Bray Emmets, Football with Bray Wanderers and Shelbourne and of course Rugby with Greystones when we became a senior club and before that with Trinity as well as Wanderers and had the unique distinction of featuring at a senior level at Lansdowne Road, Croke Park and Dalymount Park.
His impact on and involvement with Greystones RFC was huge and his loss will be felt deeply.
Paul's Funeral Service will take place tomorrow morning (Thursday 10th Nov) at 10:00am at the Holy Rosary Church, Greystones.
